The World Water Day was established by the UN (United Nations) on 22 March 1992. On 22 March of each year, is intended for discussion of various topics related to this important natural asset.We know that water is an essential resource for the survival of all living beings. It acts keeping our body hydrated, helps in the transport of substances, works as a solvent, regulates our temperature, participate in chemical reactions, among many other functions.
On March 22, 1992, the United Nations, in addition to establishing the World Water Day, released the Universal Declaration of Water Rights, which is ordered in ten articles. Here are some excerpts from that statement:
1- The water is part of the heritage of the planet;
2-Water is the lifeblood of our planet;
3- The natural resources of turning water into drinking water are slow, fragile and very limited;
4. The balance and the future of our planet depends on the preservation of water and its cycles;
5- Water is not only heritage of our predecessors; it is primarily a loan to our successors;
6- Water is not a free gift of nature; it has an economic value: one must know that it is sometimes rare and expensive and that may well become scarce in any region of the world;
7- The water should not be wasted or polluted or poisoned;
8 The use of water implies respect for the law;
9- Water management requires a balance between the need for protection and the needs of economic, health and social security;
10- The water management planning should take into account the solidarity and consensus because of its unequal distribution on Earth.
